Alexis Cohen is a dedicated cake artist with a gift for creating elegant and whimsical designs. She works on the Jersey Shore, but serves many clients in NYC as well. Alexis bakes beautiful celebration cakes, often featuring hand crafted and shaded gum paste flowers. Her elegant cakes have been served at black-tie weddings at The Pierre hotel, but she's equally popular for her fun and imaginative birthday cakes for children and adults. Alexis's cakes are baked under strict kosher supervision, making them ideal for traditional Jewish celebrations. While it's Alexis's preference to work with luscious Swiss meringue buttercream, many important occasions call for a dairy-free cake to follow a meat dinner. To that end, Alexis finds Fleischman's non dairy margarine to give the best results for dairy-free icings. To compensate for the lack of butter taste , intense flavorings such as chocolate and mint are often featured. Increasingly, the general customer base is showing more serious interest in the idea of a dairy-free option for dessert. Rounding out Cohen's repertoire are her baked to order Middle Eastern pastries, reflecting her Sephardic background.
